When Mountains Dream in Gold
Ashcroft, Colorado
This winding path through Ashcroft Valley captures one of Colorado's most historically rich landscapes transformed by autumn's golden touch. Once a booming silver mining town of 2,000 residents in the 1880s, Ashcroft now stands as a preserved ghost town nestled at 9,500 feet in the Castle Creek Valley—the surrounding White River National Forest has reclaimed much of what human ambition once cleared.
Care Instructions
Keep your artwork looking as stunning as the day it arrived:
Metal Prints
- For a quick clean, dust your metal print with a microfiber or soft dry cloth.
- For a deep clean, wipe clean with a microfiber cloth and a small amount of water or a mild glass cleaner.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners or ammonia-based products.
- Metal prints are moisture-resistant, making them great for humid environments—just avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
Framed Prints
- Dust the frame regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
- Use a microfiber cloth and a non-ammonia glass cleaner for the acrylic front—avoid paper towels or rough fabrics.
- Keep away from high humidity areas like bathrooms to protect the frame and artwork.
By following these simple steps, your Middles print will remain a timeless piece of adventure and inspiration in your space.
Hanging Instructions
Framed Prints (Sawtooth Hanger)
- Choose a spot with good lighting and minimal direct sunlight to preserve your print’s vibrancy.
- Measure the distance between the two corner sawtooth hangers on the back of the frame.
- Lightly mark those points on your wall using a level to keep things straight.
- For drywall, use picture hooks or drywall anchors. For wood or studs, nails or screws work great.
- Install two fasteners—one for each corner hanger.
- Gently rest each sawtooth hanger onto its fastener until secure.
- Step back, make sure it’s level, and enjoy the view.
Metal Prints (Float Inset Frame)
- Find a spot with indirect light to enhance the metal print’s natural luminescence.
- Use a pencil to mark where the two screws will go (measure twice, level once).
- Drill your holes and install two screws—anchors may be needed depending on your wall type.
- With clean hands or gloves (cotton or nitrile recommended), lift your print and align the inset frame's lip on the back with the screws.
- Gently lower the print onto the screws until it feels secure.
- Step back, make sure it’s level, and watch your wall come to life.

When Mountains Dream in Gold
This winding path through Ashcroft Valley captures one of Colorado's most historically rich landscapes transformed by autumn's golden touch.
Once a booming silver mining town of 2,000 residents in the 1880s, Ashcroft now stands as a preserved ghost town nestled at 9,500 feet in the Castle Creek Valley. The abandoned structures that remain tell the story of Colorado's boom-and-bust mining era, when fortunes were made and lost in these high mountain valleys. Today, the surrounding White River National Forest has reclaimed much of what human ambition once cleared.
This aerial perspective reveals the valley in its most spectacular seasonal transition—when aspen trees reach peak gold just as the first snow dusts the Elk Mountain peaks. The solitary cabin in the corner stands as a modern echo of the area's rich history, while the meandering road invites exploration of a landscape that exists in this perfect state for just a few fleeting days each year.
